Quark's Race Team Defends National Championship April 18, 2007 Quark's Race Team headed back to R/C Madness in enfield, CT to defend our National Championship. The 1/18th Scale Nationals is the only large "mini" race in the U.S. and got a new high of over 220 entries this year. The race format was straight forward with 3 rounds of qualifying followed by a single A main. Quark's Tony Phalen, Josh Anderson, Billy Fischer, Kyle Bergstrom and Frank root put on a show in quyalifying. Josh took the TQ honors in 4wd Brushless with Frank in 3rd, Billy 5th and Tony 7th. In the 2wd Brushless Class, Frank TQ'd with Tony 2nd, Billy 3rd and Kyle 4th. In the mains, nothing went differently, with Quark dominating both classes. In the Quark 4wd Brushless Truck class, Tony had a great start to jump into the early lead with Frank in hot pursuit. Frank worked into the lead and held onto it for several laps before Josh inherited the point. Tony was also able to get by Frank and thus the finish results: 1st- Josh Anderson (TQ) All drivers used Quark's 33A Pro Car controller and Hacker E30-13L motors. Frank and Billy also used Thunder Power 3s 1320 mAh packs for superior power and practice run times of 30 plus minutes. In the 2wd Brushless Truck Class, it was more of the same. Frank Root jumped out from his TQ for an early lead, followed by Billy Fischer. A bobble by Frank gave Billy the lead briefly, but he returned the favor and Frank jumped back into the lead for good. Tony worked back to 2nd with Billy 1st- Frank Root (TQ) All drivers used Quark's 33A Pro Car controllers. They did run different motor and battery setups, however. Frank ran a Hacker E30-13L (5000KV) with a thunder Power 3s 1320. Tony, Billy and Kyle all ran Hacker's new E30-14L (6000KV). Al the drivers used the following settings on their 33A Pro Cars: Forward/Brake Special thanks to Billy for all the help with setups, Kyle for the awesome motors, Tony and Josh for the great AE support, and of course, Dean Berry and Chris Marcy for an awesome race!
